It’s great to be able to build your own website…but there’s just so much to learn.

  • Which html editor to use (frontpage or dreamweaver)…?
  • Should I start with a template or learn programming…?
  • Do I need to take classes…?
  • Who can give me some advice when I get stuck…?
  • And lots of other things.

When I started with web design, one of the easiest ways to learn was to use Wordpress – an online blogging platform that can be used as a great content management system.

There are so many advantages with using a web based application – you don’t need Frontpage, Dreamweaver or Adobe Contribute, the themes and templates are freely available, you don’t have to pay for hosting (if it’s done through wordpress.com) and the support forum is a great place to go when you get confused or you need some extra advice.

BUT, if you want to build a decent website, either for personal or business purposes and you need your own domain name, wordpress.org is the place to go. You’ll find complete instructions for how to download and install wordpress on the site of your choice.

But there’s even a better way to do it. Get your initial domain name and website hosting through a company that uses a one-click install system…like HostMonster or HostGator. You can register your domain name (.com .info .biz .org) and install wordpress all at the same time and in a matter of several minutes – how EASY is that!

What’s Even Better About WORDPRESS? – They have just won the the Overall Best Open Source CMS Award ahead of over 12,000 nominations and more than 23,000 votes across five categories … now that’s saying something!

Anyway, if you’d like to find out more, there are so many resources available with a simple google search, or you could go to South Gippsland Website Design and watch video tutorials, read some interesting articles and get a FREE E-Book thrown in as well.

Enjoy!
